About

Caleb Tonkin

Brought up on 18 acres in the Dandenong Ranges I have always had a love for the land. I would often be found outside helping Dad in the veggie patch, helping clip the wings of the chickens or collecting and chopping wood for the winter season. Growing up I would see changes to the landscape that surrounded me. It was this upbringing that laid the foundation for my interest in creating outdoor spaces.

As a kid I was always fascinated with stone. In particular how people used to build and shape this material. In time this curiosity came out and led me to a passion that can sometimes be overwhelming.

My appreciation for this natural resource has grown as I have learnt to work with its ever-changing subtleties and characteristics. I have also learnt of stones’ versatility, whether it be a traditional dry stone wall, the placement of a landscape rock or a feature fireplace. If applied with the right vision, this raw material has the ability to add tremendous personality to an environment.

I look forward to sharing my ideas and my passion with those around me.
